Mercedes-Benz Malaysia expanded the variety of its C-Class lineup in 2020 with the launch of the Mercedes C200 with AMG Line equipment. The Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) C-Class has continued to be the most well-liked model in the company's lineup. When this generation of Mercedes C Classes was first introduced, there were many different powertrains and options available. But along with the addition of new features and technologies, there was a discernible streamlining with the launch of the facelift.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia showcased its continued dedication to diversity six years after its founding with the introduction of the 2020 C200 AMG Line. This version was a brand-new addition to the C-Class models from the redesigned CKD generation. A more recent 2.0-liter engine with 204 horsepower and 300 Newton meters of torque was one of the notable updates. The well-known 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox was used to transfer power to the back wheels.
This new version of Mercedes-Benz C-Class C200 was mostly concerned with the changes made to the outside and inside. Without a doubt, the AMG Line packages were instrumental in adding a dash of aggression and sportiness. C200 AMG sports pedals, galvanized paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and ARTICO leather upholstery were among the interior's highlights.
The Mercedes me connect system was added as an extra feature to improve connectivity between different Mercedes-Benz models. This system gave owners the ability to check their car's status remotely, unlock or start the engine using their phone, contact customer service, use an emergency call system, take advantage of remote vehicle diagnostics, find a parked car, and enjoy predictive navigation.
The cost of the Mercedes-Benz new C-Class C200 AMG model, without insurance, was priced at RM 251,587.39 on the road.
In the same year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia introduced the updated 2020 Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe AMG Line, showcasing an upgraded engine and enhanced infotainment functions.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz C200 Coupe came equipped with the latest generation 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, mirroring the (W205) C 200 Benz sedan, priced at approximately RM 336,129 (OTR without insurance). This new 2.0-litre engine replaced the M264 ‘EQ Boost’ 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, which previously benefited from a 48V (13hp/160Nm) starter/generator motor. The updated engine boasted 204 hp and 300 Nm, showcasing a 23hp increase and a 20 Nm improvement over its predecessor.
The engine continued to be paired with a 9-speed automatic (9G-Tronic) transmission, enabling the Mercedes C200 Coupe to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds (previously 7.9 seconds), reaching a top speed of 245 km/h.
In other aspects, the C 200 now featured Mercedes me connect (MMC), a communication module allowing customers to stay connected with their vehicles globally via their smartphones.
MMC introduced new functionalities, including remote unlocking, remote engine start, fuel level checks, and customer support. Additional features of the Mercedes Me Connect comprised the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system (E-call), remote vehicle diagnostics, pre-entry climate control, predictive navigation, and a parked vehicle locator.
Aesthetically, the Mercedes C200 Coupe embraced all the distinctive sporty elements of the AMG Line, encompassing the front grille, front bumper, rear bumper, and 18-inch AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels. Internally, the C200 AMG Line featured an Artico leather interior, Nappa leather steering wheel, AMG sports pedals, and floor mats.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) had officially launched the locally assembled (CKD) version of the W206 C Class Mercedes C200 in the second half of 2022.
The variant lineup comprised two forms: a C200 Avantgarde and a C 300 AMG Line, a pattern reminiscent of the approach taken with the W205 C-Class facelift. The base C200 Avantgarde was priced at RM287,888, reflecting a reduction of RM12,000 compared to its CBU version.
In terms of specifications, the new CKD variants featured turbocharged four-cylinder engines, aided by an integrated starter generator (ISG) capable of offering a temporary boost of 20 PS (20 hp or 15 kW) and 200 Nm.
The C200 Mercedes 2022 was propelled by an M254 1.5-liter unit, delivering 204 PS (201 hp) between 5,800 to 6,100 rpm and 300 Nm of torque from 1,800 to 4,000 rpm. Its engine was paired with a 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission, transmitting power to the rear wheels.
On the equipment front, the CKD Mercedes-Benz C200 Avantgarde gained two additional features compared to the CBUs. These included hands-free access for the powered boot and Pre-Safe, the latter being Mercedes-Benz's anticipatory occupant protection system.
Apart from these enhancements, the rest of the kit list remained unchanged. Internally, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, both powered by the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, adorned the cabin. The system included an LTE module for Mercedes me Connect services, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality.
Concerning safety and driver assistance systems, the C200 was equipped with Active Blind Spot Assist, Lane Tracking package, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist, passive cruise control, the Parking package with a reverse camera, and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic.
